Kindergarten Sink and Float

We had out first STEM lesson today.  The kids were working on a sink and float experiment.  Students worked in cooperative groups to design and build a boat.  Then they tested to see how many bears their boat would hold.  We were discovering the engineering process of  brainstorming ideas, making a design, planning for materials, creating an object, testing it and then evaluating and improving their design.  What a wonderful day!  Check out the photos.

Tomorrow is early release day.  Car riders will be dismissed at 12:20.  The buses will leave at 12:30.  Our lunch time will be at 10:21 instead of 10:51.  This will just be for early release.  We will go back to our normal lunch time on Thursday.  Enjoy the afternoon!

I sent home 2 math workbooks with your child. These can stay at home for your own use. Should you wish for your child to do any extra practice, keep busy in the car or review any skills they are struggling with, feel free to use them at your discretion.
